Franklin County Cyclists
About Franklin County & The Beginnings of Franklin County Cyclists
Franklin County, located in south-central Pennsylvania, lies midway between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The county’s southern border aligns with the historic Mason-Dixon Line, separating Pennsylvania from Maryland. Encompassing 772.22 square miles, Franklin County boasts rolling hills, lush valleys, and scenic mountains, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and cyclists alike.
The club was founded in 2008 by Karen Keefer and was originally known as the Summit Health Bike Club. In response to growing enthusiasm for cycling in the region, the club evolved into Franklin County Cyclists (FCC) in 2012. FCC eventually formed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Their Mission Statement
The mission of Franklin County Cyclists is to foster a community of safe, healthy, and fun cycling for riders of all skill levels. The organization is also dedicated to educating both cyclists and the public about safety and cycling best practices.
