League of American Bicyclists
The League of American Bicyclists, formerly known as the League of American Wheelmen, has been around since 1880 and has served a national member base for the rights of cyclists ever since. Through an annual membership system, and through the support of sponsors, this group brings national attention and coordination among cycling advocates in the U.S. Piscitello Law is proud to be a national sponsor.
Advocacy and the National Bike Summit
The bike league takes part in legal advocacy from lobbying in Congress to bringing together like-minded individuals together for local or state change. The National Bike Summit is a pivotal program that helps bring together individual advocates to lobby in congress for greater bicycle rights and to network for better inter-community advocacy efforts. The most recent summit took place in March, 2024 in Washington, DC with the standing mission to create a Bicycle Friendly America for all.
Smart Cycling
The League is well known for its smart cycling courses, training and resources devoted to improving skills, and safety. They provide online videos and classes as well as in-person training. Check out their resources here. In March 2023, Piscitello Law presented to Harrisburg Bicycle Club and one of the attendees, Richard (Dick) Norford was in the seminar and is a Smart Cycling Instructor certified by the League. Dick asked our firm to use some of our slides for his own Smart Cycling Course that he teaches in the Harrisburg region. We were/and are thrilled to share!
