On Wednesday Feb 8, 2023 Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling hosted an event at Tricycle bike shop, to raise awareness about concussion and traumatic brain injury. Bike law attorney, Joe Piscitello spoke about how to ride defensively to avoid crashes. Specialized sent one of their engineers to discuss the importance of a correctly fitting helmet as well as the recommendation to NOT install cameras on helmets as that impacts the helmets ability to properly absorb crash impacts.

Kate Rownd, board member of T3 Philly and clinical researcher at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) spoke about signs and symptoms of concussions and treatment options. A representative from LoveYourBrain shared his story about suffering a traumatic brain injury and the importance of having a community of support to heal. LoveYourBrain is a non-profit working to raise awareness and create change among people impacted by TBI.
